Cute Illustration

This is the first time I have done something like this, I was doing a lot of photoshop and I decided to break through my comfort zone and did some 2D cute illustration.
After the 2D version, I created a 3D for it using Photoshop CC. It was also my first time of using it, it is fun to discover new things.

It changes my way of thinking in certain way and illustration like this can be interesting too in my opinion.
I hope to further develop this style when I have the time.

This was used for my Facebook Cover photo.
It is done on 28 February.
And below is the one I did for my Facebook Profile picture.

CNY 2014

This is my first post for 2014 and this was inspired by Sergey Likhachev.

It is specially made for Chinese New Year 2014 (Year of the Horse)

What I liked about Sergey Likhachev work is that there is always the aesthetics in his work, especially his detailing in lighting and colours used, creating an urge to explore the fictional place he created.

Of course there should be improvement done to my art especially the lower part of this but I will continue to learn and explore more.

Another speed art done :)
Inspiration from the movie Battle of LA.
The color was a bit off at the center and the bottom part of the KLCC was not nicely done.
There are a lot of part in this image to be touch up but due to the size of the file, my computer is too slow to handle it, This is why I never touch up for a lot of part in it.
I think I should get a new highspec computer when the price of the computer drop down a few months later.
Hopefully I can get a bigger monitor too :D

StopLynas,SaveMalaysia

Stop Lynas, Save Malaysia.
Just using a few simple step to do this picture, trying to indicate how these chemical can cause pollution to our country and how much we have to suffer from it.
The mother with her son is actually wearing a gas mask or biohazard mask.
The mood of the picture is kind of dull and simple because it was meant to focus on the black silhouette and also the factory behind. The real Lynas factory is not just that small, this is just a random picture I found using Google image.


I hope Lynas can get out of Malaysia because I don't want Malaysia to be polluted with harmful chemical.
Government should not do this just because of money.
I'm not doing this because of politics, it's just because I am a Malaysian and I love Malaysia.

HorrorHospital & Dessert Paradise

I was watching some horror movies and then I thought of making something like this.

Trying to make some scary mood using the technique I learned, spend some time on the details and I was quite satisfy with this work because I have to focus more on the shading of the picture.

Inspiration came from Sugar Rush Land from Wreck it Ralph and also Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. I saw the trailer of Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 and I just watched Wreck it Ralph not long ago, so I decided to combine them and make a dessert paradise land of out of my inspiration. It didn't turn out to be as good as I wanted it to be, but this is like the first time I did something so colourful, I think I should I improve more in editing colourful pictures.

Half Underwater photoshop

For me, lighting is still one of the challenging part when it comes to photoshop.
I saw a lot of people did the half underwater photoshop so I thought of trying it for the first time and see how the outcome would be.
Sometimes the picture still look kind of flat if I do not add in detail.
I was lucky enough to do a lot of photoshop in this period in the Creative Media Point when I was free.
The good computer aid me a lot in doing work for not lagging and also a big screen so that I can crop pictures without using too much of energy focusing on the picture.
Got to improve more on my lighting and the flare/beam of sun.
The thing that look like a bridge behind was not crop out as detail as possible, it was like roughly cropped out. Still got a lot more to learn.

Modern Fairytale

Modern Fairytale.
I have watched a lot of movie for fairytales, where the castles are all by the lake.
So I thought of why not I replace the castles with my country's signature building instead?
The sun in the picture are consider big for a normal view, but it's done on purpose, fairytales always have big moon and soon, and sometimes they doesn't even make sense.
What I learned during editing this picture is the reflection of building or environment on the water. Use a bit of smudge effect, opacity, shading and more.
I wanted to put like 2 people by the lake enjoying the view, but instead I chose a standing guy that look like he is having a deep thought while looking at the buildings and lake.

Inspiration : Battleship (2012)
The movie Battleship is about the Ship Vs AlienShip.
Destroying a ship maybe? Well anyway, I chose to made the battleship got hit by a huge wave and its about to flip over under a bad weather on the sea.
I made a second where it comes with the rain and changed the background for a better lighting effect :)

Combining building and forest at the same time.
Ok, this idea came really random where two pictures at the facebook gave me this random awesome idea.
It was a picture of a KL Petronas Tower and some random trees.
I add in a Panda in the final touch up to let people notice that this is actually a forest.

If it snowed in Malaysia.
This is the photo that has the most like so far in my Facebook Random Editing album.
I was so shocked when this picture reaches 20+ likes and then now the total of 32likes.
It was like the first time I get so much like for something that I posted on Facebook.

Ok here's the reason why I actually edited this photo.
It was like snowing season around the world, a friend of mine which is studying at United Kingdom posted photos of snowing in the country. I was wondering what if it snows in Malaysia?
That's when I got the inspiration and start doing it. No cropping were done for this photo.
Its more about painting and erasing for this one. When I finished it, I can't believe it actually looks like its snowing in Malaysia.
And this is when I use more paint opacity to get the work done.
*Make full use of the shortcut for opacity.

Photoshop art that I have done so far.

The PreveZombie was the first editing that I actually pay attention and focus when doing it and this is where it all started. I got the motivation because of my movie poster actually used by lecturer to show as a bad example. Nothing wrong with the lecturers, they were right because my work was crap, wrong proportion, lighting, no reflection, no shadow, wrong shadow direction, everything in my movie poster for assignment was just so flat and doesn't stand out.
That is when I started to focus more on Photoshop software skill. December14.
Trying with all new methods and somehow my passion in this type of work increased. PreveZombie and PreveRace was the first two work that I focus on, I try to find some inspiration and research online and decided to learn from them.
Raining effect, snowing effect and more. It takes me time to actually finish one picture but when I see the outcome it's all worth it. Since then, I try on more stuff and learn more skill through this process.

Talent is something people have naturally, skill is developed by hours and hours of practice.
