Packaging Report

Introduction
Nestle is a well-known product and we are required to make a new food using local produce as an opportunity to explore a new product for Nestle.

About the product
The product is a satay flavour crispy rice stick, it is named as the Krispy Stick.

Concept/Design

The concept of this food is derived from a traditional Malaysian food named Lemang. Lemang itself is usually cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick. The design was made in the way that it look similar to the stand that support the bamboo stick.
While the packaging of it is quite simple, just a rectangle box that contains satay flavour crispy rice inside.

Functionality

It was basically a simple stand where the product could lay on the supporting part, there is also space in between to allow customers to grab a stick easily. It is small enough to save space and to be displayed on the check-out counter but at the same time big enough to fit in at least 6 stick of crispy stick.  The packaging is rectangle, so that the food inside is more protected compared to a round stick that will break easily if there's a slight impact on them.

Colour & Pattern

The colour that was used for the standee was mostly black and brownish with texture or bricks and woods. The reason behind this is that the Lemang itself is a traditional food, using other colours such as blue and purple would not be too appropriate for the standee, although brown colour itself represent burnt, but this is the whole point of it, the product is something crispy. For the packaging, I use sharp orange for it to attract the customer. Research has shown that the colour orange stimulates the brain and stirs up a sensation of hunger and that make eating sounds like a great idea.
